Martín Arias Delivers Results for Working Families

As Taxpayer Advocate for the San Diego County Assessor’s Office, Martín has helped thousands of residents understand their rights and lower their property taxes. His work helped expand tax relief for more than 20,000 disabled veterans, producing approximately $35 million in savings for veterans and their families.

That experience taught Martín how to navigate complex public budgets, demand accountability, and make government work for the people it serves. He brings those same values to the San Ysidro School Board—protecting taxpayer dollars while ensuring students and classrooms receive the resources they deserve.

Martín Arias Turns Compassion into Action

As Director of Prevention and Intervention Programs at the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office, Martín created and led  Homeless Court Resource Fairs over four years. These events connected more than 2,000 community members with shelter, essential services, and opportunities to rebuild their lives.

The fairs also helped participants obtain critical documents—including birth certificates, identification cards, and driver’s licenses—while addressing legal and administrative barriers that often prevent people from securing housing or employment.

The program’s success helped it grow into a recurring countywide effort serving thousands more people. Martín brings that same collaborative, solutions-driven approach to the San Ysidro School Board—connecting families with resources and ensuring vulnerable students receive the support they need to succeed.

Martín Arias Builds Opportunities for Children and Families

Martín serves as Clerk of the San Ysidro School Board, a member of the Border View YMCA Board of Directors, and President of the Imperial Beach Neighborhood Center.

Through each role, he works to expand educational opportunities, strengthen family support systems, and connect young people with the resources they need to thrive.

For Martín, serving on the School Board is part of a lifelong commitment to public service. He believes strong schools are built through partnerships among parents, educators, nonprofits, local businesses, and community leaders—all working together to give every child a safe, supportive, and successful future.
